About the Trainer

Alexandra was first introduced to Agile in 2014 while working at Semrush, where she was part of one of the strongest Agile coaching teams in Russia. During her time there, the company opened two European offices and grew from 70 to over 700 employees — all while maintaining a flat structure and a strong Agile culture.

Since 2018, Alexandra has been working as an Agile consultant with various companies. Over the past five years, she has taken part in two large-scale Agile transformations, launched over a dozen teams, facilitated numerous strategic sessions, and trained more than 600 people in Agile, Scrum, facilitation, and other essential skills.

She is a regular speaker at conferences (Agile Days, TeamLeadConf, Agile Rock), hosts webinars, joins podcasts, and is one of the co-authors of the channel “Decent Facilitation”. In 2022, she became the producer of the Agile People track at the Agile Days conference.

In addition to her professional work, Alexandra is also trained as a Gestalt therapist. She maintains a small private practice and brings a Gestalt perspective to her work with people and teams.

How to Build an Engaged Team Without Fiery Speeches or NLP

The treasure of any business is engaged, responsible teams that drive the product forward on their own.
And businesses expect team leads and managers to grow these teams, engage and motivate people.
But how exactly should a leader do this? Give fiery speeches? Learn psychological tricks? Motivate with bonuses?

In this talk, I share cases of effective and ineffective ways to engage teams in product work and collaborative decision-making.

Psychological Aspects of Facilitation

Facilitation is meant to ease group interaction during meetings and help the group reach agreements, but not all meetings with a facilitator go smoothly.
Sometimes meetings drag on endlessly, discussions go off track, participants sabotage the process, stay silent, refuse to follow the facilitator’s plan and rules, or even say it’s all a joke!

In this talk, I discuss the psychological aspects of facilitation:
  • How to be accepted by the group
  • How to engage people in the work without carrying the meeting alone
  • How not to lose your mind when things go off plan
  • And how to handle toxic participants, even if they are top managers
